A Book by Dr. Mary Oliver
It is said that we reflect to others what we believe of ourselves—
and others reflect back our conscious and subconscious beliefs.
Reflect means to give back or exhibit as an image, likeness or outline
and an image given back by a reflecting mirror. In the ancient
Hebrew and Aramaic, reflect is a reproach or the action of folding
back, or bending.
So if the images you are projecting onto others subconsciously are
images of your unhealed hurts and unlived lives of your parents or
grandparents, the reflection others see in you may have a tendency
to cause them to bend back from you. Also, the reflection in them of
similar issues may cause you to bend back from them—bend back, step
back, reject, guard, be extra cautious and less trusting. And if you’re not
processing the beliefs of your heart, you may project your unhealed
issues onto others as if they are the problem and you are just fine.
